Brother's Best Friend

This song was written in the hope that it would help to encourage others in their relationships.  Like myself, I am sure there are hundreds of people out there who have strained relationships with family members or friends.

My brother Yale and I grew up close as kids.  But as adults we had conflicts that left 18 years of unspoken words.  January 2006 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and realized that life is too short for any type of bitterness.  There is nothing more important than your family and loved ones.

Unfortunately, my brother Yale was still not open for reconciliation.  Shortly thereafter, at the age of 41, Yale died of a sudden heart attack.  His death left a huge hole in my heart.  All those precious years wasted over a conflict that could have been resolved.  We both missed out on experiencing life together.

Writing this song, "Brother's Best Friend", has been a healing process for me, and I hope that it will be an encouragement to others.  I wish I could go back in time and be my brother's best friend.  For me, it's too late.  For someone else, there still might be a chance.
